Frank Capra

From "It Happened One Night" to "It's A Wonderful Life"

Frank Capra made movies with a heart and great characters you could love, care about and even hate because his films were just great film making.

He didn't start out to be a film maker, but he went on to make some of the best and most loved movies of all time.

If You Love Movies - You Love Capra

Sometimes called "Capracorn" his feel-good movies often had a great message, but always gave us a story and characters we could really enjoy.

It all started in the prop department during the silent era - but his talent took him from props to writing and directing comedy movies.

Time With Producer Mac Sennett

The king of comedy spotted Capra's talent and in 1924 Mr. Capra started directing comedies for Sennett's studio.

It didn't take long and Frank Capra's list of movie hits included the wonderful 1934 "It Happened One Night" in 1936 it was "Mr. Deeds Goes to Town" followed in 1937 by "Lost Horizon."

In 1938 the wonderful cast of exceptional actors featured in the movie "You Can't Take it With You" is a testimony to the great film making talent of Capra.

"Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" in 1939, "Meet John Doe" in 1941 and "Arsenic and Old Lace" in 1944 are some of the best and most loved classic movies of all time.

Television Brings Back A Favorite

But it wasn't until television started broadcasting the 1946 movie starring Jimmy Stewart that modern audiences discovered Capra-Corn all over again.

"It's a Wonderful Life" is without a doubt one of his best. And because of television, it's become a holiday favorite.

Do you love movies? Then you need to see every one of the now classic Frank Capra films mentioned here.
