Production Notes

The character of Hildy, played by Rosalind Russell, was originally written for a male - but Howard Hawkes had his secretary read the part and liked the way it sounded with a female voice.

Also considered for the part of Hildy were Carole Lombard, Katharine Hepburn, Claudette Colbert, Margaret Sullivan, Ginger Rogers and Irene Dunne.
