My Favorite Movies

I really love movies, and this site is a lot of fun.

My favorite movies are the ones with a great story and wonderful characters. Naming just one favorite movie would be very hard for me because I have so many favorites.

But if I was stranded on a deserted island with only one movie I could watch, my choice would be the Stanley Kramer comedy "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad Mad World."

Here are a few of my favorites.

"Shane" and "The Searchers" tie for my favorite western, "War of the Worlds" and "The Time Machine" are my favorite sci-fi movies.

Master story-teller Alfred Hitchcock is in a class all by himself with movies like "Psycho", "The Birds" and "North by Northwest."

Besides Mad Mad Mad Mad World, my favorite comedy movie writer is Neil Simon who wrote "The Odd Couple", "Barefoot in the Park" and "California Suite" just to name a few.

And there are so many wonderful black and white classics. "It Happened One Night", The "Thin Man" series and just about any Frank Capra movie.

See, I told you I couldn't name just one favorite movie.

You're right, the best movies are films that tell great stories a feature wonderful characters.

By the way, I was at a film seminar years ago where director Stanley Kramer was the featured speaker. When asked why he used the word "Mad" 4 times in the title, Stanley answered by saying "3 wasn't enough and 5 was too many." In my opinion, "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World" is one of the funniest movies ever made.
