High Noon 1952

Lawman Will Kane (Gary Cooper) just got married and hangs up his badge when things change.

Kane learns that Frank Miller (Ian MacDonald), a man Kane sent to prison, is coming in on the noon train with 1 thing in mind - revenge.

The music by Dimitri Tiomkin is haunting, memorable and sets the pace for this refreshing look at life in the old west.

Director Fred Zinneman's use of clocks to show that high noon is approaching, helps build tension.

Awards: High Noon won Oscars for Gary Cooper, Best Actor
Elmo Williams and Harry Gerstad, Best Film Editing

Shane 1953

Starring Alan Ladd, Jean Arthur, Van Heflin
A weary gunfighter (Alan Ladd) tries to settle down with a homestead family (Van Heflin and Jean Arthur), but a local rancher has different ideas.

Jack Palance is excellent as the cold, gunfighter.

And at the end of the movie as Shane rids off, Brandon DeWilde as Joey, brings tears to your eyes as he yells "Shane... Shane... Come back!"
